Quick Review: The Forest of Hands and Teeth

Title:  The Forest of Hands and Teeth
Author:  Carrie Ryan
Publisher: Delacorte Press
Published: March 10, 2009

From Goodreads:
In Mary's world there are simple truths.

The Sisterhood always knows best.
The Guardians will protect and serve.
The Unconsecrated will never relent.

And you must always mind the fence that surrounds the village; the fence that protects the village from the Forest of Hands and Teeth.

But, slowly, Mary's truths are failing her. She's learning things she never wanted to know about the Sisterhood and its secrets, and the Guardians and their power, and about the Unconsecrated and their relentlessness. When the fence is breached and her world is thrown into chaos, she must choose between her village and her future-between the one she loves and the one who loves her.

And she must face the truth about the Forest of Hands and Teeth. Could there be life outside a world surrounded in so much death?

*May contain spoilers!!!*
I received this book from Goodreads bookswap on Tuesday.  Today after my Biology practical I needed something other than school to think about.  I started reading The Forest of Hands and Teeth and couldn't put it down.  I have been looking forward to reading it, but never wanted to buy it.  Now I wish I had gotten it sooner.  It was a great story about Unconsecrated (Zombies!!!).  Mary is a young woman dealing with the loss of her mother and her father.  Her brother has turned her away and the one she loves is promised to another.  The fence is supposed to keep the Unconsecrated out, but something happens.  Now Mary and a group are looking for another safe place and she dreams of the ocean.  This is a fast paced story and I can't wait to start on The Dead-Tossed Waves.

Thanks! Been kind of sporadic though due to my school schedule. Hopefully in between semesters I can do more. :)
